Dr. Jen Farrell
Dr. Jen Farrell is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Applied Sport Psychology program at UNC Greensboro (UNCG) where she teaches graduate courses in sport and performance psychology and supervises master’s students working toward their certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). In addition to these roles, she also works at the outpatient level with Mind Body Endurance and OnRise to help clients optimize mental health, performance and enjoyment in their sport and/or performance domain. Her clinical areas of expertise include the psychological aspects of recovery and rehabilitation from injuries and in treating eating disorders and body image concerns.
Dr. Farrell obtained an MS in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois, a PhD in Sport and Exercise Psychology from UNCG, and her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Her comprehensive education and training in clinical social work and performance psychology enables her to provide the best possible assistance to clients in need of mental health and mental performance services. Dr. Farrell is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), listed in the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Mental Health & Mental Performance Registries and has been certified as a CMPC since 2009. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the AASP Certification Council and is an active member of AASP, the Collegiate Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and Alliance for Social Workers in Sport (ASWIS).
